Garage Worktable Upgrade: Bright Light Where I Need It

Bright and versatile

Will be using these as warehouse lights in a house I am currently building. They seem to be of good quality and after wiring them to a temporary cord are quite bright. I have no doubts that these will work awesome as lighting in my new garage.

Nice and bright LED panels for office / workshop with color temperature settings.

Pretty solid pair of office/shop lights. I've been slowly supplementing my lacking lighting in the shop with LED panels like this just to fill out the dim spots, and so far I've liked these ones the most. A bit pricey for what they are, but the brightness and temperature switches on the top of the units really help to match the lighting color in the shop, because these things go from an almost deep orange to an eye-searing bluish white. The units don't really come with much to help with wiring, but the tops have a removable panel for accessing the wiring and making a break-out for conduit or a wire clamp bulkhead. The options for hanging these seem pretty limited because although I was able to use tiny little hook spots bent into the metal brackets, you can't really get anything in through those little triangular bends bigger than a keyring. These are meant and are more suited for drop-panel ceilings, but you can make it work in a shop or garage without much more fuss than it takes to wire up a light.

Good lights, poor packaging

Good lights. Really like the option of being able to adjust the temperature and wattage that way if you have existing lights you can match to them. Had to replace one of my old ones when I couldn't source a driver for it. These were perfect. Only issue I had and it's not completely the manufacturer's fault but packaging is inadequate. I bought a two pack and their packaged with the diffusers face to face in the box but nothing to protect the back panel . One of mine the panel was smashed(probably shipping company which wasn't Amazon) and was unsure of the construction of this. Hooked it up and you could see the LEDs because they were close to the diffuser. Only needed to use one so installed the other one which was undamaged. Luckily these are manufactured very simple so about 20 screws I took apart and bent the back panel flat again so now I have a spare. I like that the driver is integrated into to the panel also. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again if I need more . But minus one star for the poor packaging.

Bright! Dimmer not necessary for operation of light

These babies are bright! A single panel effectively does the job of two or more 4ft dual fluorescents and you can adjust the color temperature. They're easy to wire up and a good size for ceiling installations in panels for drop ceilings. They're light, but seem to be well-constructed. You can manually set the wattage and color temperature with switches on the back of the lights. They aren't the least expensive option out there, but they're high quality, high brightness, and light weight.

Lightweight, color and brightness versatile LED panel, great for our drop ceilings lighting

These LED panels are surprisingly lightweight, which made installation a breeze. The frame feels sturdy enough to handle being placed in ceiling tiles without any worry. I really appreciate the adjustable light settings, especially the wide range of color temperatures. It's great to be able to fine tune the lighting to match the environment. You do have to adjust the settings from the back of the panel, so it's best to do that before you fully install it, but once you've picked your preferred settings, you probably won't need to change it often. The brightness is good, and while I wish it could get just a tad brighter at the highest setting, it's definitely sufficient for our needs. The light is very even, with no hotspots or shadows. I was even thinking about getting more of these to build some DIY photography light boxes. The low energy consumption and minimal heat output are big pluses. Overall, I'm very happy with these panels, especially considering the price and not having to deal with glass tube fluorescent light bulbs

CUSTOM LIGHT SETTINGS

A fantastic upgrade to my old LED four tube trough lights. I've gone from a yellow tinted light to white . The photo shows the new light on the left and it's set at 50 W and 5000 K. The original light on the right is a diffused light and you can visibly see the color difference. I do not have a dropped ceiling which these are actually meant for, but I was able to use the installed clips to attach them to the ceiling joists and made them recessed to the garage ceiling. This was not an easy install because I had to figure out how to hold them against the ceiling and go up in the attic and attach them. But it all worked out. Also, now I'm able to add insulation over these lights, which I was not able to do with the old set up. As these are brand new and everything is working as it should time will tell whether these are value or not. But it cost about the same to buy the bulbs as it does to buy the entire unit and with this it gives you the flexibility of setting the wattage and the tone of the light. A significant upgrade.

Lightweight and even lighting

Very nice, lightweight 2x2 light fixture that is easy to wire up, and does not weigh much making it easy for a single person to install. The hooks at the side of the fixture for installing in a 2x2 (or 2x4) standard lay-in ceiling, also have a small loop at the top so light-weight chain can be used to suspend the fixture.I ended up installing the light in an area without a ceiling, and used some s-hooks at each of the corners (and is light enough that supporting it on one side, wiring the electrics in, and then swinging it up into positing and attaching the last two chains was easy).Wiring the light for power has standard 3-wires, and also two optional control wires should you want to add dimming. Keep in mind that if you want to add dimming, you need a switch that puts out a 0-10v signal, else you just get full brightness. The light puts out more light than fluorescent lights I replaced, and is fairly even.Having switches at the top of the light gives easy access to adjust the brightness, and the temperature of the light. If the light fixture lasts for a long time, seems to be a pretty good value for what you get.

Incredibly bright, super light, installation couldn't be easier!

These lights are a HUGE improvement over traditional florescent lights! This is the drop ceiling in my kitchen. And I'm hoping the fact that this ceiling is only about 7' off the ground is why they are so darned bright! I've got them on the lowest setting, and these pictures DO NOT do it justice. If I had a skylight in there I might have to un-install them for fear of redirecting air traffic - that bright!I do have them on the whitest setting. The kitchen is not where I want a yellow glow. If they came with a remote, that might change things. But these have 2 switches - one for color temperature and one for brightness/wattage.They are SO bright that I am considering wiring one of them to a remote receiver so I can cut the amount of light in half as needed. It's not blinding, but in my tiny walk-thru kitchen with 7' ceiling, you can't help but notice how bright they are. I honestly caution my visitors to watch their eyes when I turn them on.Now in all fairness, one of those ballasts has been fried for years, so I only h. Iad one florescent working. And it IS a REALLY tiny kitchen but it's not like I live in a cave! Well, not anymore. (Thank you Vine for lighting up my life!) I'm just trying to say that I know the difference between bright and dim!The small detail I really appreciated on this product was the 4 knockouts for the electric so you could have more or less wire protruding closer to one side or closer to the middle. It's just a little strip, but it was a thoughtful addition to put several knockouts on it.The net price (at the time of this review) is $68 for 2-2x2 panels. They come with a 5-year warranty. That's 5 years of not having to change a bulb, not having to mess with the positioning of those pins that protrude, getting the rotation right for it to lock into place, removing and replacing the panels, getting them to drop into the channel past the rivets just right... And the balasts were testy. I went through several periods where I had to flip the switches at both ends of the kitchen numerous times to get it to flick on and stay on I'm so happy to be DONE with all of THAT!Do I really need to say it? YES! Make the switch! I highly recommend these.(It would have been a nice touch to include some sort of a wire plug you could insert over and around the knockout to feed the small wires through instead of leaving all that open space, unless it's meant to provide ventilation by design.)

Great lighting BUT what is going on with fixture construction

Purpose for Product: Finally upgrading to LED lighting in the shop. These lights might just be the perfect solution.Product Inspection: Two- 2'x4' LED drop ceiling light fixtures. BOTH lights came with bent metal damage, see photos. These lights are very lightweight construction, and care needs to be used while installing. Wattage and light color choice selectors are located on the back using slide switches. Power connection box is located opposite end from other switches.Product Performance: Take this as a warning= these lights are NOT made like the old light fixtures I am familiar with. The old fixtures could sell as scrap metal for $50- well not that much but you get the idea. These LED fixtures are very flimsy which does make them easier to handle when installing overhead. The two light fixtures were damaged enough that installing them in framed suspended ceiling some customizing would have to take place. I am actually constructing a frame to suspend them with so it is not so bad. As seen in the photos the electrical connections are made inside a small area on the back of the light. A small screw holds the access panel in place. There are four knockouts for connecting the service. There is also a small knockout on the end of the connection area- I chose that entrance using an electrical corded plug as I have outlets available in the ceiling- which is not the drop type. Did not have a small bushing to secure cord so I used electrical tape to build up around the cord to make a "plug" so the cord was held in place and not pull on the connections. Suggestion: If there is any way you can power your lights before installation and experiment with the light color and wattage, it might help. I am just learning about the light color and wattage choices and tinkering with that really helped me make my choice. Connected the lights to power and made color and wattage selections- very easy to do. Will complete install when frame is completed which can be height adjusted to get the perfect light event.Summary: As I am new to installing LED lighting, I was very surprised as to how lightweight and flimsy these things are. And there is no replacing a "bulb", it is all or nothing. I really do like the ability to select the color and brightness which is incredibly easy. The ability to use a dimmer is significant but I just don't need that option. The light performance is the best part- the light framework construction is disappointing and the damage is totally unnecessary.

We are terribly sorry that your light fixtures arrived damaged. If the damage was caused during transit, please contact our support with your order number and photos of the damaged items, and we will send brand new replacements to you.

An easy upgrade with all the color temps and brightness level choices you could want

These look so much better than the fluorescent lights they're replacing in our cabin and seem well built. We also had trouble with bugs getting into the old lights and these seem sealed so we shouldn't have that problem anymore. They're very easy to install (best to have a second pair of hands not because they weigh too much just awkward) and they can be VERY bright but the switch lets you select a brightness level too (not sure if they work with dimmers but I don't think we need to worry about it)! The color temperature setting is perfect as long as you don't want to change it all the time (which we don't and find it better to just set it to what we want).Much better functionality that what they replaced and completely worth it if you have an old room with a drop ceiling that needs an easy update.

Big improvement

We replaced two old light fixtures with these LED panels. If you know basic electrical it should take about 30 minutes to swap out an old fixture with these. These fixtures are incredibly light and feels sturdy. My maintenance team loves the adjustment features. They made the changes with the customer in the room and dialed in the color and intensity to their liking. These give off a nice white light without any glare. Another bonus is that these lights run silent, no buzzing or humming sounds.I will definitely be ordering more of these light fixtures.
