Super bright and great heat dissipation

I got this light to help light the workbench area of my garage, and boy did it work! (See the before and after pictures). These are high-bay lights, and my garage only has a 10' ceiling, but this thing really throws out a nice spread beam that gives me as much light as I could ever want on my workbench! The unit is very well built, and even though the emitter is a bit smaller in diameter than some other high bay lights I have, this one is brighter. And it is very well made. It is made for large industrial applications, so the mounting structure is rock solid (unlike the little carabiner attachments on the other high-bay lights I have). The unit has built in aluminum fins for heat dissipation, and they are just very well made!

Very bright and built like a tank

I installed this in my 20' by 40' shop to replace some fluorescent lamps. This lamp is much brighter and illuminates the area much better, but I think it would take three to illuminate the whole shop. Most of my shop I don't need bright light so this is used on the end where I do most of my work. It is made of metal that makes it feel very sturdy and it should dissipate heat very well with the large metal content.

Easy to install

After receiving the canopy lights, they were installed promptly. They not only illuminated the passage but also made it convenient for me to find my tools. So far, the effect has been very good.

Fabulous

This model is the 240/200/150W light, and WOW! I am blown away by the amount of light that is coming out of this beast. Even at 150W, the amount of light is more than sufficient for most tasks. In the photos, the light is hung at about 13' above the floor and the first photo is 240W, second at 200W and third at the 150W (the first photo shows darker shadows due to the phone camera struggling with the extreme contrast). The wattage is easily switched at the unit and if you don't want to climb a ladder to change it, as they mention, a dimmer can be installed when it is wired directly to your electrical system.. There's also an adjustment dial which you see in the manufacturer video to the left of the wattage switch, and nothing explains what that is for. I didn't need to touch it, however; the unit was plug and play.

For me, working in an unfinished house with no interior electrical panel yet, this thing is a godsend. I am spending about 200 dollars a month on electricity right now, and a lot of that is in worklights. The LED worklight bulbs I have purchased promise brightness but don't deliver. Oh and did I mention that I just blew a 20A GFCI outlet by overloading it? That was yesterday. This unit is going to pay for itself within 6 months.

thought I was being abducted by aliens

This light is bright!

When I first turned it on, I thought I was being abducted by aliens and now I can't go in my workshop without sun-screen!

Seriously though, it's very bright and seems very well made. Mounting it was a snap - I just used an eye bolt and ran an extension cord to it through some more eye bolts.

It has a massive heat sink but never seems to get hot nor does it heat up my workshop.

This a commercial grade light and so far, it's survived the winter, spring, and summer in my workshop. I think the heat-sink will help it last a very long time as excessive heat is typically what does in most LED lights.

I'm orderings more just as soon as I get some more sun-screen!

Don't look into the fixture when the lights go on because it is so bright.

The light in this picture is hanging by a tripod because we need to put it up in our garage, but first, we need to put electricity in where this will hang. We plan to use it for growing vegetables in our garage. We can give the plants the desired light daily for optimal growing times. We worked with the light in one of our bedrooms, and it was going great until one of our dogs got in and decided to dig in the dirt. We managed to get them to sprout, and they were getting more prominent with thick stalks. So now we have decided to dedicate part of our garage to growing vegetables. With the very bright light, we will have good luck.

Currently, the only light in my garage is when you open the door to the outside. Leaving the door open to the outside is not a very safe thing to do. That is why we plan to put the electrical sock in and keep our door locked.

It's like having the Sun in the garage

Wow... It is seriously bright in the garage thanks to this light. It was so bright, I had to get a comparison with my previous shop light configuration. In the picture the difference is amazing. The light meter is mounted at 5 ft above the floor and 5 ft from the lights attached to the truss bottoms. The existing lighting is provided by 12 shop lights 4ft 40w LED tube lights rated at 4400 lumens (each). The light reading for this configuration is 434lx or 18250 lumens. The existing lights were turned off and the 240W LED UFO High Bay Light was fired up by itself. The output was stunning with a reading of 5.51klx (5510lx) or 231050 lumens. The lumens are calculated because my light meter is only certified to lux.

Bottom line, the light is very well constructed with appropriate safety devices to prevent a mount failure. The heat sink seems to work very well. This light is going to be moved to the 20 ft ceiling in the barn, the light output reading would be closer to the rated output per the manufacture. This will be a great addition to help light up a difficult area. As far as value, this light is worth it. This would be great in the garage with the optional dimmer. It is legitimately too bright for a 1600 square foot area with a 10 foot ceiling without the ability to dim it.

Brilliant light source!

BEST THING ABOUT ITEM: very brightADDITIONAL LIKES: does not emit much heat given brightness, easy to hang, big heat sync, heavy duty construction, 5 year warrantyWORST THING ABOUT ITEM: appearance not aesthetically pleasingADDITIONAL DISLIKES: no built in remote controlCOMMENTS (Function, Appearance, Quality): This is a well built, heavy-duty warehouse or shop LED light. It is easy to mount as it includes a built in aluminum hook from which to suspend it. The hook as a set screw you can use to close the hook to prevent it from detaching. It also contains a 2 ft safety cable in case the hook fails or is circumvented. It comes with a 5 foot long cord with a 3 pronged plug. It also has a short pair of wires to which a switch/dimmer could be attached.Though it is designed for high bay usage, I have it hung 11 feet off the floor above the lathe in my shop. I was concerned it might put out a little too much heat that close to the work area, but thermal measurements revealed there was very little change in temperature at my height. I've enclosed three images of my wireless thermometer readings. The first is of the ceiling area with the light off (64.3), the second is of the light itself while on after 1 hour and pointed directly at the source (94.8) and the third pointed at the ceiling right next to the illuminated light also at the 1 hour mark (64.9 - image shows the memorized reading after measurement was taken since I was holding it straight up from the spindle to take the reading). The work area remains quite comfortable and is very well lit. I have it plugged into a remote controlled outlet to toggle it on/off from the work area.Naming it after s UFO is fitting as that is how it appears with its well segmented high aluminum heat sink. It has a nice sturdy feel to it as a result. A switch that is protected by a silicone plug allows you to chose between 150/200/240 watts thereby adjusting power consumption and light brightness. The light is incredibly bright at all settings, but I have it on high. The company doesn't provide any coverage estimates, but I estimate if mounted at ~10 feet, it will easily light a double garage.MOST SUITABLE FOR: anyone wanting bright focused lightIS IT WORTH IT?: Considering the performance of the light and the warranty, probably. The ~$90 cost seems a bit steep, but you get an incredibly illuminated area for a prolonged period for that price.*PRECISE RATING: 5 (the five year warranty helped soften the blow of the price, so no deduction there)RECOMMENDATION: I can highly recommend the 240W light mounted at least 9 feet of the floor to brightly illuminate any work area.(As always, I will report back if there are any durability issues with additional use.)*Rating scale:5 = exceptional in several characteristics, happy to have it, definitely buy again;4 = excelling in at least one characteristic, would probably buy again;3 = average overall, would consider buying again;2 = low end merchandise and/or service, but somewhat useful, not sorry, but would not buy again1 = not worth the time or money; sorry I bought itCharacteristics considered: Presentation/Packaging, Quality, Craftsmanship, Materials, Functionality, Utility/Versatility, Instructions, Ease-of-Use, Comfort, Value.

THE BEST ENERGY EFFICIENT LIGHTING AVAILABLE IN TODAYS MARKETPLACE

This is the cat's meow of UFO lighting. It has all the bells and whistles on it. Switchable from 150watt, 200 watt or the monster 240watt power up. Of course the higher the wattage the brighter the light gets. Ultra energy efficient design saves you big time on your electric bill. These UFO lights come close to negating Anne Roberts Jacques Turgot's law of diminishing returns. At a 240 watt input this light puts out 36,000lm at a temperature of 5000K. Very comfortable temperature for the human eye. Made of die cast aluminum, the frame easily dissipates heat very well. These UFO lights operate at a temperature far below that of a halogen light making them much safer to use in fire prone areas like a barn. You can hang them from a wire just about anywhere in 2 minutes. Plugs in to traditional 3 prong outlet using a 5 foot long cord that has been installed and waterproofed. Wired to be dimmable when put on a dimmer switch (not provided). IP65 rating gives them immunity to any weather on this planet. I highly recommend this product.

Power a little under par, but still a good light

I got some lights made almost exactly like this a few months back, and they have held up great.. Those were mounted at an angle to direct light at about a 45 degree angle instead of straight down.. This light is made just like those, so I see no reason why I would have any different of an experience with this one vs those ones that I got before..The light does get a bit warm, so you will definitely need ventilation around it.. I had it running for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, and the LED part was already getting pretty warm.. As long as their is plenty of ventilation, it will not get hot enough to burn.. I just wanted to tell you that it did get pretty warm in that area after just about 1 minute so you know, it does generate a bit of heat..It is advertised as 200 watts.. As you can see, mine only used 192 watts after running for a couple of minutes.. 8 watts is a little off, but nothing to complain about.. and definitely not enough to drop a star off of it either..Overall, it is working good.. I have no real complaints with it.. The only main flaw I found so far was it was just slightly under power, but not by much..

Great lighting

Have these installed at my dealership. They are very bright and have a nice wide light path. I have this light installed at 13 feet. Changed the whole area at night.
